Dear NewYorkConCon.info Subscriber:

During the past few weeks there has been a dramatic increase in news coverage of New York’s upcoming constitutional convention referendum. I’ve copied below links to coverage during August (for earlier news coverage, click here). The major daily newspapers have started coverage, including the New York TimesWall Street JournalNew York Daily NewsNew York Post, and Newsday. But the best coverage continues to be in niche publications.

Especially noteworthy is Bill Mahoney’s recent coverage in Politico New York, including a series on the relevance of New York’s 1967 convention to the convention debate in 2017. Mahoney makes some dubious assertions that unfortunately will probably be repeated as gospel. But what matters is his overall contribution to the debate. Unfortunately, some of his articles are behind a paywall. But those that aren’t are still standouts. Here are three noteworthy ones:

I’m expecting news coverage to pick up dramatically during the next 60 days as the referendum nears. At some point, I will probably limit myself to indexing only the more noteworthy publications. But for now my news coverage index is intended to be exhaustive with the following exceptions: 1) articles that only made passing reference to the upcoming convention, 2) blogs, event notices, trade publications, and other types of media that are covered as separate categories at NewYorkConCon.info, and 3) articles behind paywalls at secondary publications. If I’ve missed an important article and it has been more than a week since it was published, please send me a link to it via NewYorkConCon.info’s contact page.

As the volume of advocacy information explodes during the last few weeks and days approaching the referendum, it should be quite a ride.

Sincerely,

J.H. Snider, Editor
